CONSENT TO RAISING LOANS. The Newmarket Borough Council met last evenin,;, the Mayor, Mr. IS. Donaldson. presid'Mg. Notification was received from the Secretary to the Treasury that consent had licen given to the raising of the drainage loan of £11.500. the street, improvement loan of £I2OO and the Mortimer Pass loan of £BOO The council could now issue debentures and proceed with the works. At the suggestion of Mr. L. J. Keys, who wrote requesting that a bus stop ,should he provided m Broadway near Station Street, it was decided to suspend for the time being the regulation prohibiting parking between the Newmarket Hotel and Station Street.

A lottor was received from Mr. E. HPotter, Mayor of Mount Eden, thanking the council for nominating him as a member of tin- Transport Board.
