Another very lino i.ssuc of the Auckland Webklv News is published to-day, and oneo again tho superb illustrations are an outstanding feature. Variety and high general interest is tho keynote, making the pictorial subjects as a whole suro of wido appreciation. Important events of tho week in many districts throughout tho Dominion are well illustrated. The local subjects include striking snapshots during the ring competitions at tho Auckland Jubilee Summer Show. Splendid horsemanship and bold jumping aro well portrayed. The spectacular pageant provided by tho great Girl Guide rally in the Domain is also splendidly illustrated. Other North Island topics include th» wonderful spectacle at the Arapuni lulls, Cardinal Cerretti's visit, officers and men of the cruiser Dioniede, disastrous timber null /ire at Mokai, and the new homo for St. Stephen's College. All readers will be interested in further pictures showing Commander Byrd's Polar expedition assembling at Port Chalmors. This series includes tho arrival of tho Eleanor Boiling and the training of the fine dog teams on Quarantine Island. The centro double-page this week is devoted to several, remarkably good panoramas. One of these is a unique view of beautiful Whangaroa, tho famous scenic gem of tho North Auckland coast. Interesting pictures, too, are those secured last week on a new fishing ground recently disccveied in Cook Strait near Mana Island. Striking photographs show record catches of hapuku being made by boats of tho Island Bay fleet.
