SPANISH FISHERMEN LOST. GERMAN HARBOURS CROWDED SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN FLOODS. DEMOLITION IN SWITZERLAND. Times Cable. LONDON, Nov. 27. The Madrid correspondent of the Times says there has hern considerable loss of life among tlio men of the Spanish fishing fleets at the week-end. The crew of a trawler saved 27 men from (lie Spanish sienmer Artea-Mendi, 3554 tons, near Bilbao. The. Berlin correspondent of the Times says tlio northern harbours of Germany are crowded with sheltering shipping. The dykes protecting Schleswig-llolstcin broke in many places owing to heavy seas. The island of Svlt is marooned.
Tho gre.it llindenburg dam, carrying a railway, was damaged. Tlio islanders complain that the dam banks up tho tide. Two largo towns aro flooded and the inhabitants of reinoto villages have been ■taken off flooded areas in boats. The Geneva correspondent of tho paper says storms demolished extensive forests in the Jura region of Switzerland. I arm buildings were also destroyed. PHILIPPINES SUFI-EK. TYPHOON SWEEPS ISLAND. WRECKS AND SHORE DAMAGE. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. MANILA. Nov. 26. Tlio most severe typhoon experienced in the Philippine Islands for years to day swept over the southern island of Luzon. The wind at times reached a velocity of 70 miles an hour. Enormous damage was done. Thirty per cent, of the cocoanut crop is reported to have been destroyed. Llegaspi, a port town, is flooded and the Government buildings have been damaged. Several small ships have been wrecked at various points along the coast. Telegraph lines have been blown down and tho wireless reports of the destruction done aro fragmentary. COAST OF AFRICA. DESTRUCTION BY GALE. HOUSES. FRUIT AND CROPS. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. CAPETOWN. Nov. 2C. A storm on the coast to-day was presaged by a terrific downpour of rain at the Eastern Cape. The damage done in the Riversdale district is estimated at £40,000. Houses were demolished and 2000 stock were drowned. Fruit trees and crops were swept away. The mail steamer was nine hours late.
