NEW ZEALAND TIMBER.
DEMAND IN AUSTRALIA.
AN IMPROVEMENT REPORTED.
Reports of an improved demand for NewZealand timber in the Australian markets were brought to Auckland yesterday by Mr. A. E. E. Dodd, managing director of Robert P. Gibbons, Limited. Mr. Dodd said Iho principal demand in Australia was for white pine, but it could go only to a certain price, after which it had to meet the competition of tho American yellow pine. The inquiry for rinm was not so brisk as it was a few months ago. The improvement in the demand for New Zealand timber might be only temporary, Mr. Dodd added.
