GILT-EDGED SECURITIES SOUGHT.

Continued demand for Government and local body securities resulted in three sales in this section on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Devonport Borough debentures, 1936, 6 per cent.., sold twice at £lO2 10s, an advance of 10s abovo tho level of the last threo sales, and Mount Eden Borough debentures, 1961, 53 per cent., maintained their recent advanco to sell again at £lO2. War Loans, 1936, per cent., registered a further rise of 5s to change hands at £lOl 10s.

Banking was quieter. New South Wales depreciated 2s 6d on tho figures of both holders and buyers. For Unions a shilling more was offered, but no sellers appeared 011 tho market. In coal Pukemiros changed hands at 65s after soveral sales at 67s 6d. In gas Aucklands had salo at 23s 3d, a penny under tho last deal. In shipping Northerns, ex. div., were to be had at 13s Bd, tho price offered en Monday, but buyers yesterday offered only 13s.

In breweries New Zealands had sale at 555, after selling last week at 55s to 575. At tho close of tho exchange holders asked 56s 3d, buyers 545. In tho miscellaneous section offers for British Tobaccos wore advanced by 6d to 44s 9d, sellers 455. Colonial Sugars sold at tho noon call at £59, ns on Monday, but a further lato salo was made at £SB 10s. At tho closo of tho exchange both sellers arid buyers were 5s lower than 011 Monday. Holders of (Wilsons Cements firmed 9d to 41s, buyers 40s.

In mining Wailiis changoil hands nt 14s 9d, 2d under the last sale, and closed 2d easier than on Monday.
