HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to (lay was supplied to us by Mr. H. Vincent last evening:—Showery and unsettled weather is indicated, particularly in areas bordering on both tho east and west coasts, but improving everywhere shortly, and line, bright weather is likely to follow over most of the Dominion. Southerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong, strong to gale throughout tho Wellington Province, Rough seas in the vicinity of Cook Strait, and on tho south-eastern areas of the east coast, mainly moderate elsewhere. The recent disturbance is now passing eastward, and chiefly fine weather is indicated during tho next few days. Barometor, midnight, rising .. 29.75 in. Midnight, Monday .. .. 29.75 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows; —The cyclone is now centred east of Cook Strait and is increasing in intensity. Pressure is high over eastern Australia. Indications are for moderate to strong south-westerly winds, reaching gale force at a few exposed positions. Rather rough seas on the west coast and south of Castlepoint; elsewhere moderate. Strong west to south winds and rough seas in tho eastern Tasman. Still unsettled, with showers in most districts. Heavy on parts of tho east coast of tlie North Island, with some thunder. Improving soon in western districts. Cold temperatures with some frosts in Otago and Canterbury. RAINFALL RECORD.
