PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS.

COUNCIL ADOPTS REPORT.

[by TELEGRAPH.—-OWN' correspondent.] DARGAVILLE, Tuesday.

A special meeting of the Dargaville Borough Council was held last evening in committee, to receive a report on the municipal gas works from Mr. H. Atkinson, consulting engineer, of Auckland. Mr. Atkinson recommended a number of additions, including the erection of a larger gasometer. After a meeting lasting three hours, the report was adopted, and the following resolution carried: — " That the Legal and Finance Committee be given the necessary power to act in the matter of doing all necessary to submit a loan proposal to the Local Government Loans Board for a sum that will be necessary to carry out the proposed improvements to the gasworks as outlined in the report, having regard to the modifications in expenditure if a second-hand gas holder and exhaust can be purchased." It was also resolved that the Gas Works Committee bo empowered to negotiate with the Taumarunui Borough Council for an option to purchase their second-hand gas holder and incidental equipment.
