PURCHASE FOR BRITAIN. SCOTT'S LAST EXPEDITION. British Wireless. LONDON, Nov. Git. Tlje fjiiijqqs cinematographic record of tho lato Captain Scott's expedition to tho South Pole was yesterday purchased Jul* tho nation. It will be held in the custody of the British Empiro Film Institute, This is tlio first film to be acquired. Efforts bad been made by tho controlling authorities of an American museum to acquire tlio film, £50,000 having been offered for it. Mr. Herbert Pouting, photographer to Scott's expedition and tho owner of the film was, however, willing to accept considerably less in order to preserve it for Britain. Arrangements aro being made for the exhibition of tho film throughout Britain, tho Dominions and tho colonies. A contract has already been let for its display ill tho United Hiatus.
As a L>au)tgrpurul to this remarkable photographic record there are well-known stories of Captain Scott's death and tlio jolf-sucrifieo of Captain Gates—outstanding episodes in the history of I'olar exploration.
