RUSE TO GET MONEY.

PARCELS NOT POSTED.

BOY STAMPS RECEIPTS.

[by telegraph.— own correspondent.]

CHRISTCHURCH. Sunday

An ingenious scheme for obtaining a little pocket money was revealed in the Children's Court yesterday when a hoy of 15 years pleaded guilty to two charges (if theft of motor parts from his employers. Detective-Sergeant Young said the boy was sent by his firm to post a parcel of goods, lie returned with a receipt, but it was subsequently found that the parcel had not reached its destination. On tho second occasion he was given another parcel to post. This parcel was thrown in tho river and was not posted, but tho boy returned with the receipt. 'J lie boy Liter admitted the, charges and said he had stolen the money that should have been used to post the parcels. Ho had needed the money to go camping.

The boy's scheme was a most ingenious one, said the detective. Tho boy filled in the forms at the post office and when tho clerk's back was turned seized the rubber stamp and stamped the receipts. He then threw the parcels away and took the postage money for himself. 'lhp second parcel had been returned, but the first parcel had not been recovered. The boy had received a good thrashing from his parents and was apparently fully cognisant of his position. His employer spoke well of him and would give him another chance. His pocket money had been Is a week.

The magistrate, Mr. E. D. Mosley, admonished tho boy, telling him he deserved all he got and he would have to go straight in the future. The boy promised to reform and was ordered to refnnd 16s the value of the first parcel, and Is 4d postage money. Ho was placed under tho supervision of tho child welfare officer for two years.
