THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. ACTIVITY IN BANK SHARES. Activity in banking and insurance shares constituted the main business oh the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. In the Govornmont security section quotations showed virtually no change on tho lato cull of the previous day. Tho only business was a sale of Inscribed Stock, 1933, 5h per cent., at £lOl 10s, tho price given on Wednesday, In banks there was a sale of Adelaides at £lO. Nationals of Australasia, contributing issue, were done at £9 12s, a drop of a shilling on tho figuro given at tho preceding sale a month ago. Tho recent advance of threepence in the market prico of New Zealands was sustained by a further sale at 61s 9d. Unions were also firm, and changed hands nt £ls 7s 6d, tho ruling rate. In insurance Nationals were done at 16s lid, after a sale earlier in tho week at 17s. New Zealands woro inquired for early at 475, tho basis of third call business on Wednesday, but no sales resulted, the market closing a little easier at 47s 3d and 46s 9d, against 47s 6d and 47s on tho previous day. As on Wednesday, South British changed hands at 645. Tho other sections were distinctly quiet, with no considerable movement in quotations. In brewery shares New Zealands again sold at 575, against 55s on Wednesday, and more were wanted at tho former figure. Theso shares touched 58s 6d, but had been easier until yesterday's upward trend. In miscellaneous Colonial Sugars could bo had at £6O 5s at tho lato call, but buyers would not advance beyond £59. Tho only sale in the section was a transaction in Wilsons Cements a>t 41s, which 'sustained tho rise noted at the beginning of tho week. In mining Wailiis, which showed an easing tendency on Wednesday, were available at 14s Bd, with buyers a penny less.
