RUSE BY CONSTABLE

ARRESTEE MAN REMANDED

[liy TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OTOROHANGA. Wednesday. A smart capture was made by Constable Fry, of Otorohanga, yesterday afternoon. Ho received a telephone message from Te Kuiti informing him that a car was rearing Otorohanga, having passed through Te Kuiti at a high speed, although .signalled by tho polico to stop. A car of tho aanio make was reported to be missing from Wellington. Constable Fry decided to wait at. the Waipa Bridge, where there is only room for one car to pass After waiting some time ho saw a car approaching, and when tho car reached the bridge he purposely stumbled and lot his bicycle fall across the track. He ouestioncd the driver, and finding him to have come from Wellington, arrested him.

The driver, whose riamo is Clifford Corrin, was taken to Te Kuiti, and remanded for three days for further inquiries
