SCARLET FEVER CASES.

CHILDREN IN CANTERBURY. INFANT SCHOOLS CLOSED. [bv telegraph.—rnsss association.] CHRISTCIIURCH, Friday. The scarlet fever epidemic in North Canterbury has exceeded the normal time of epidemics o( this nature, and the. medical officer of health has found it necessary to issue the following notice " Seventy-five per cent, of the cases reported are children under 14 years of age. Roughly, twice as many cases have occurred in the age-period five lo 10 as in the age-period 10 to 15. The majority of all cases have occurred in the metropolitan area, and it is proposed to exclude from schools in this area all children in the infant classes and Standard I. All kindergartens are also to be closed."
