NEGOTIATIONS FOR TREATY.
SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES.
'Australian nnd N.Z. Pre** Association. LONDON. Nov. 6,
Irt view of Ihe many known differences liotweon France and Italy interest is centred in the prolonged negotiations which are being conducted by the French Ambassador, Baron de Beauuiarehais in Jiomo on behalf of the French Government, which it, is hoped will shortly culminate in an agreement oil the important outstanding points.
It is believed that, a new treaty is being negotiated, under which Italy will waive her claims to (he special treatment of Italians settled in Tunisia, while France will agroe to tlie rectification of the frontier of Tripolitana,
Moreover there is reason to believe that tho treaty will include a preamble expressing the intention of the two countries to live in amity, which will be a bitter pill to those persons, both in Italy and France, who have been fishing in the troubled waters.
Acceording to a I'rench source, the British Government lias been kept informed of, and is activity encouraging, the course of the negotiations.
