IMPETUS TO CIVIL FLYING.
Australian an J N.Z. Pross Association. (Received October '2B, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 27
An attempt to make the air age a reality is behind a far-reaching scheme for the rapid development of civil aviation in Britain.
The Daily Express says a public company on a large scale is being floated. The chief promoter is Captain F. L. Guest, a former Secretary of Slate for Air, with whom arc associated other persons prominent in aviation. The Air Ministry is taking a live interest in it.. Thu company's aims embrace every conceivable brunch of aviation. It will undertako air taxi work on a widespread scale and possibly "joy-riding" at holiday resorts.
The company will take over 18 existing private airplane clubs and will establish upwards of 50 new instructional clubs in various cities and towns, with more than 150 fullv-equipped aerodromes, forming systematic chains to cover all the flying routes in the kingdom. The machines will bo largely standardised, in order to reduce the cost. Briefly, the plans visualise Britain of the immediate future as a country whose citizens will take to the air as they now take to the roads.
