DAMAGE BY FIRE.
HOUSE AT TE PAPAPA.
ONLY ONE ROOM SAVED
A large two-storeyed vooden house in Neilson Street. To Papapa, opposite the woollen nulls, was, with '.lie exception of one loom, gutted by fire on Saturday evening. The house. o\vn?d and occupied by Sir. Pierce, had until recently been the property of Mr. Gal ie.
The fire was first not.ced about. 11 o'clock by Mr. W. Miller, manager of the woollen mills, who gave the alarm to the Onehunga Fire Brigade. The building was by that time well alight, and the brigade was able to save only ong room. No one was at home at the time.
Firo which broke out in a five-roomed house, owned and occupied by Sir. William SlcArthur, at 52. Cumberland Avenue, Grey Lynn, on Saturday morning resulted in considerable damage to the hall and one room, let as a flat. The contents of the room were insured for £SO in the Norwich Union Office and £4O in ihe Guardian Office.
