Trout beck, ot Rotorua, lias Arrived in New Zealand from England, where she has been spending the last three years, and is at present the guest of Mrs. Fussell, of Napier. A very enjoyable bridge afternoon was given by Mrs. Eugene Sullivan, of Brett Avenue. Takapnna. on Thursday. Howls of golden-shaded Iceland poppies brightened the lounge room, where the tables were arranged. Mrs. Sullivan wore a frock of royal blue georgette over deep cream hand-made lace, to receive her guests who included Mrs. E. Davies, Mrs. Beeroft, Mrs. Vanse. Mrs. Mowbray. Mrs. O'Brien, Mrs. H. Brinsden, Mrs. T. Davies, Mrs. Knight, Mrs. Crowe, Mrs. "Dalton, Mrs. Temple, Mrs. Grant. Mrs. Dickenson. Miss E. McDonald. Miss A. O'Neill. The highest score was made by Mrs. E. Davies and the consolation prize ■was given to Mrs. \ a use The Ladies' Guild of the Howick Presbyterian Church he'd a verv successful sale of; work in the Sundav-school hall on Thursday afternoon. The minister in charge, the Rev. D. Mclntyre, in opening the sale romplimented the ladies on the excellent display of goods and! hoped for good financial results. The stallholders were: Fancv stall, Mrs. F. Jamieson and Mrs.. A. While: flower stall, Miss M. Mcllwraith and Miss M. Motion : produce stall, Mrs J. Ilill and Mrs. McMurrav; cake and sweets. Miss Eckberrr and Miss T). White; book stall. Miss G. Mcllwraith ; bran tub. Miss M. .Tu r 'kins and Miss E. Mclntyre; refreshments, Mrs. Newton. Mrs. Middleton, and Mrs. Heron. The sale was continued in the evening when a programme of vocal and instrumental items was given by members and friends.
