TWO NEW LOCOMOTIVES.
CONSTRUCTION AT THAMES. WORK FOR TWELVE MONTHS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES. Thursday An announcement that orders for tw<> new locomolives for the Government would be placed with Messrs. Price Brothers, of Thames, was made by Mr. A. M. Samuel this evening. Mr. Samuel said he had received the following telegram from the Minister of Railways, Hon. J. G. Coatos
"Messrs. Price Brothors now have thre* heavy engines on hand for repairs, and arrangements are being made for th<> despatch of another heavy engine for repairs before Christmas. In the meantime the department is pressing on with designs for new locomotives, and will place orders for two of them with Messrs. Price Brothers when the plans are completed."
Mr. Samuel said Mr. W. Price had informed him that this order would provide 12 months' work lor tho employees of the firm.
