PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
STOCK DRIViNG QUESTION. Tho Papakura Town Boarrl met on Tuesday evening, Mr. James McC'all, tho chairman, presiding. In reply to a request from tho Auckland Aero Club whether thero were any suitable landing grounds in the Papakura district, the board decided to inform the Aero Club that as far as it knew no suitablo grounds existed in tho district. Tho board supported a proposal from the Manurewa Town Board and the Takanini Welfare League that the 4.15 p.m. train, Auckland to Papatoetoe, should run through to Papakura, and so assist workers living beyond Papatoetoe to home earlier, especially those working at Otahuhu. At present workers at Otahuhu have to wait three-quarters-of-an-hour. Mr. H. E. McEntee voiced the complaints of many ratepayers regarding the driving of large mobs of cattle through the township on Sundays, and sometimes after dark. •. Tho chairman defended Sunday driving on account of cattle having to arrive at Westfield early in the week at appointed times. Mr. Weir contended that a properly* defined stock routo that would avoid tho township was the only solution. In the meantime, tho clerk is to investigate the matter of controlling StQC through Papakura.
