SALARIES AND POLITICS.
"KEEPING CLEAR OF PARTY." PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION. [I!Y TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] INVERCARGILL. Saturday. The Prime Minister has received a telegram from the president of the Public Service Association concerning the altitude adopted by some Christchurch civil Servants in their agitation for higher salaries. Ho assures the Prime Minister that, however dissatisfied the public servants are with .the Government for failing to ineot the cost of living and salary claims, there is no diminution of (ho sense of loyally to whoever may be guiding the Dominion's destiny, and thero is no departure from the policy of remaining entirely aloof from party politics. Mr, Coates said the message showed that, tho association was maintaining its traditional and correct attitude of keeping clear of party, and also what a fino body of, civil servants New Zealand had. Every member was free to vote exactly as ho thought fit, and ho had tho same rights 4 in this respect as every other citizen.
