TENNIS CLUBS.
AVONDALE CLUB. The opening of the Avoiidale Tennis Club was marked by a fair attendance of players. Mr. W. J. Tate, the president, gave a short opening speech, and tlicn challenged Miss Potter, the star player of the courts, to play the first ball with him. A feto minutes later the courts were full and the first games of the season were in full swing. Amoiig the players, present were: Miss Potter, Miss Mais, Miss Wright,Miss Coniiell, Mrs. Gilbert, Miss Costella, Misses Brittains (2), Miss Brookes, Miss Thorn, Miss Porritt. NG ATA RING A CLUB. The opening day of fhe Ngataringa Tennis Cliib at Stanley Bay, Which took plaOe on Saturday afternoon, was a very pleasant occasion. There was a largo attendance of members present, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Devonport, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Aldridge. An American tournament was played during tho afternoon and tea was served at the clubhouse. Among the players present were: Mrs. Brown, Mrs. R. Worrall, Mrs. Scalletti, Mrs. Waddellp-'Mrs. Senu, Mrs. Ross, Mrs. Redmond, Mrs. Dance, Mrs. Bailey, Miss Aldi'idge, Miss Dance, Miss Peggy Redmond, Miss Johnston, Miss Lund, Miss Daniels, Miss N. Worrall, Miss A. Worrall, Miss J. Aldridge, Miss Ross, Miss U. Dawson, Miss Foster, Miss Stevenson.
