THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. ACTIVITY WELL MAINTAINED. Activity was well maintained on the Auckland Stock Exchango yesterday, and substantial business was recorded. Local body loans continue to interest buyers much more than they do sellers, iind veiy few were offering. Inscribed Stock. 192741, 5£ per cent., again sold at £99, and another sale of Canterbury farmers Cooperative, 1940, per cent., was made at Wednesday's price of £94 ss. In banks Commercial of Australia sold at 30s, as compared with 30s lid earlier in the week. For Bank of Now South Wales £sl 2s 6d was offered and £sl 5s asked, but no business was effected. Few insurance sharos were offering. In loan and agencies business was done in Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering at 655. In coals Renown Collieries were in demand at 15s, but holders asked 17s. In shipping Huddart-l'arkers were quoted at 48s and 47s 9d. Following tho action of the London Stock Exchange, P. and 0. deferred stock was quoted in £l, instead of £IOO units, tho figures being 52s 6d and 50s 6d. Northern Steamships changed hands at tho most recent rate of 14s 4d, a price at which, more were available. In miscellaneous Hayward's Pictures sold at 21s, tho figure that was reached last week. For Wilsons Cement 39s 2d was offered without response. In mining Waihis sold at 14s, a decline of 2d since Tuesday.
