Mr. L. .T. Cantwell, of Wellington, is at the Central Hotel.
Mr.' A. P. Lowe, clerk of Parliaments, is at the Star Hotel.
Mr. J. Stewart and Mr. W. McWillianifi, of Wellington, are at the Star Hotel.
Mr. Jl. T. Stewart, of Dunedin, and Mr. J. F. Mills, of Matakohe, are at the Roy Hotel.
Mi'. L. Mills and Mr. C. W. Kerr, of Wellington, and Mr. ft. H. Aston, of Christchurch, are at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. John Barr, city librarian, has returned to duty after six months' leave of absence, during which he toured abroad. Ho has now completely recovered his health.
Mr. W. E.' Bush, city engineer, will leave for Sydney on holiday on October 26, and expects to return early in December. Ho will attend an engineers' conference.
Mr. G. A. Whitehouse, accountant of the Auckland branch of the Bank of New South Wales for the past five years, has been promoted to be manager of the Tirnaru branch.
Mr. A. I. Flett, postmaster at Devonport, who has been appointed chief postmaster at Westport, left by train for tho South last evening, and will take up his new •duties shortly. Mr. Flett has been postmaster at Devonport for two years. He was accompanied South by his family.
