POSITION OF EXPORT SCHEME.

Details ol tho operations of the London Quarantine Station for the export of stud stock were supplied to the August meeting of' the Royal Agricultural bociety. These showed that since (he opening of the station in April, the following consignments of stock had been handled; For Southern Rhodesia. —Six b 'For South Africa.—Three Suffolk rams, 0 Lave White pigs. 2 Aberdeen-Angus bulls, 2 Ayrshire bulls, 1 Ayrshire cow, 1 Shorthorn bull and 1 dairy Shorthorn bull. . .... . For the Irish Free State.—One Dairy Shorthorn bull, 6 Hereford bulls, 3 Heieiord heifers, 22 rams and 40 ewes of various breeds, 12 boars and 20 sows ot the Large White breed. This brings the total number of animals quarantined, to August 15, to 122. It was reported at the meeting that for the fifth quarantining period the Union of South Africa had arranged with one of the shipping lines to put a free freight boat at the service of exporters, and an entrv into the quarantine, station of about 36' head of cattle'and 20 sheep and pigs was expected. For the sixth period applications had been received for 16 cattle for Southern Rhodesia, which were lo leave on September 15. Tho Farmer and Stockbreeder reports that no arrangements were likely to be made for quarantining after October until it was seen whether Australia and New Zealand are likely to accept the scheme in the autumn, when they would ordinarily commence shipping to those Dominions."
