PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

THE AUCKLAND MEETING. Tljo General Assembly of (ho- Presbyterian Church of Now Zealand, which this year meets in Auckland, will bo prosided over by tho Rev. Professor William Hewitson, master of Knox College, Duricdin, who was elected inodorator at last year's assembly in Christchurch. Born in Victoria 67 years ago, Professor liowitson, before entering tho Presbyterian ministry, was an oflicer in tho Union Bank of Australia. From 1888 to 1895 ho was, minister of tho Church at Brunswick, Victoria, and in 1895 was appointed to the chargo of Knox Church, Dunedin. He has been master of Knox College since 1909, and has also been a member of the council of tho Otago University and the Senate of tho University of Now Zealand. Previous sittings of assembly in Auckland liavo been held in St. Andrew's Church, lovingly regarded as tho mother Church of Presbyterianism in Auckland. This year, however, St. David's Church, in Khyber Pass Road, is to have tho high honour of accommodating this important assemblage.
