Tho plan arranged by tho board of managers of tlio Pukckoho High School to givo pupils at tho school instruction in practical agriculture on farms in tho district selected for tho purpose is in operation. So far about 12 boys aro taking the course, and tlicy spond two halfdays a week in field work. On one farm experiments in tho manuring of potato crops, which aro being carried out by tho Agricultural Department, aro being studied, and on another farm top-dress-ing oi grass land is tho subject of observation. Later in the month, tho class is to study shearing operations and tho handling and classing of wool on one of the larger farms near Pukekolio. Tlio director of education is expected to visit Pukekolio shortly to discuss this phase of tho school's activities with the board of managers, who wish to sco t extended to embrace pupils from the city as well as those in tho district. Mr. W. W. Ilorwoll, M.A., from tho stalT of tlio Timaru Boys' High School, has joined tho staff of the Pukekolio Technical Iligh School as languages master. Tho Pukekolio Musical Society gavo a repeat performance last evening of tho operetta, "A Nautical Knot," which tho society first staged, with much success, for two nights some time ago. Tho attendance last evening numbered about 400 people. Their enthusiastic applause showed keen appreciation of tho bright performance given. Tho settings, action and musical numbers all , combined to make an artistic and delightful presentation of tho intriguing plot, which forms tho themo of tho piece. Encouraged by its success with "A Nautical Knot," the society intends to rehearse for tho operetta, "Bull-Bull," which it hopes to stage shortly.
