TRIAL OF DESTRUCTOR.

NORTH SHORE BOROUGHS. SUCCESSFUL START MADE. The erection of tho North Shore destructor to servo the boroughs of Dovonport, Takapuna and Northcotc, has boon completed by tho contractor, Mr. Forrest Marshall. The contract for tho building and plant in Puriri Street, off Dominion Street, Takapuna, was £4350, and the total expenditure, including tho purchase of the sito and tho road approaches thereto was approximately £6OOO. Tho final test on behalf of tho contractor was carried out yesterday afternoon in tho presence of tho Mayors of tho three boroughs, Messrs. E. Aldridge, J. W. Williamson and A. E. Groenslade, besides representatives of the tlirco borough councils and tho borough engineers. Mr. A. Slinger, Takapuna, borough engineer, said the plant was designed to consume ten tons of refuse daily, but tho tost carried out showed tho consumption was at tho rate of nearly 13 tons. Dr. 11. Chessoiij medical officer of hoalth, congratulated tho boroughs on tho provision of a modern method of disposing of waste material.
