KAMO TOWN DISTRICT.
HIGHWAYS RECONSTRUCTION AMENDMENT OF LOAN SCHEME. [llY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WHANGAREI, Friday An interesting situation arising from the decision of tho commission that tho Kamo Springs area should no longer bo administered by the Kamo Town Board, but should bo included in tho Whangarei County, was dealt with by tho board. Tho board had completed all preliminaries in respect of a main highways reconstruction loan of £I6OO and tho statutory requirements wero in process of being complied with, when tho decision of the commission was gazetted. The severance of what is locally known as tho Springs Flat has a vital bearing on the length of tho main road in the town district and tho board met to consider what action should bo taken to safeguard the interests of tho town district as a whole. A resolution was unanimously carried that the original motion to borrow £I6OO for main highway reconstruction purposos bo rescinded, and that action in regard to tho loan poll preliminaries bo nullified. ' It was decided that the matter should bo clenrly explained to tho ratepayers at a public meeting beforo a poll was taken on a proposal to raise a smaller loan. In the meantimo the board decided to apply for' sanction to borrow £IOOO for roading purposes.
