AID TO EX-SOLDIERS.

DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS. REPLY TO RECENT CRITICISM. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Friday. The executive standing committee of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association recently considered the criticism by some members of Parliament that the distribution of funds by the patriotic societies had not been as liberal as it should have been. The ✓ standing committee was unanimously of the opinion that the criticism was not justified. It was satisfied that the funds at all times had been generously disbursed within the limits of the trusts, and further, £SOOO had been made available by the National War Funds Council to provide relief for out-of-work soldiers, a contingency possibly not contemplated by the original donors. An additional generous allowance of £SOOO had been made available for that purpose this winter.
