ENDURANCE FLIGHT.

ATTEMPT TO SET RECORD. BRITISH AIRMAN IN MOTH. (Received August IS, 12.45 a.m.) United Service. LONDON, Aug. 17. Captain 11. S. Broad left the Stag Lane aerodrome yesterday in a Gipsy Moth plane in an attempt to beat the existing light aeroplane endurance record. His flight is confined to the British Isles. The machine carried 80 gallons of petrol, enough fuel for 24 hours' flight, the equivalent in weight of four men. lie has so far been in the air for 17 hours, and is still flying over Edgeware at a height of 5000 ft. lie is beguiling the tirno by reading a book. At one stage he became so absorbed in his reading that ho did not for some time notice another Moth which had flown up to greet him.
