RIFLE SHOOTING.

CITY AND SUBURBS CLUB. A SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The annual meeting of the City and Suburbs Defence Rifie Club was presided over by the president.. Mr. G. H. Hughes. There was a large attendance of members. The balance-sheet showed the club was in a sound financial position. The report staled the membership had inoreased considerably. especially in the junior grade. The fact that the 300 yds range had, by tlie courtesy of the Defence .Department, been made available to the club for the coming season should prove a big factor in encouraging young enthusiasts to ; join up and a revival of rifle-shooting in Auckland was looked forward to with confidence. The various club competitions during the season were keenly contested a,nd the standard of shooting was of a high order; that of the junior shots at times being little inferior to that of the seniors. There should be at least two good teams available for the military fehoot in November. At the various riflo meetings during the year members met with a good measure of success, the most important victories going t9 the credit of the club champion vice-pre-sident, A. T, Patrick, who won the,B grade championship at Trentham and the South Auckland championship at "Waihi, the latter for the second year in succession. Rifleman I.
