TO-DAY'S WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Unsettled weather is indicated generally, with heavy rain at intervals, particularly in the central portion of the North Island, including Waikato districts. Northerly to north-westerly winds, strong to gale, and squally, especially in southern districts. Rough seas around New Zealand coasts, both the East and West Coast areas being affected. Expect very low barometric pressure shortly, due to the disturbance of combined tropical and Antarctic influences. Barometer, midnight, steady ~ 30.05 in. Midnight, Wednesday .. 30.15 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows. —A westerly lowpressure wave has passed to the east of .the South Island, and there is another depression situated in the western Tasman Sea. Indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds, veering to northcrlies and freshening; rather rough seas on the western coast; elsewhere moderate. Moderato to strong north-west winds in the Tasman Sea, with moderate to rough seas. Weather still somewhat changeable, with scattered rain, more especially in the western districts; later becoming more generally unsettled. RAINFALL RECORD.
