PROGRESS OF COMPETITIONS. Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON, June 26. The Wimbledon tennis championships were continued to-day. In the second round of the men's singles Cochet (France) defeated Hopman (Australia), 6—l, 6-4. B—6. The impression was created that no Australian had ever given a more creditable performance at Wimbledon than Hopman. Time and again, when Cochet was within a point of game, Hopman returned aces. ITe has everything that makes a world winner except experience. His audacity thrilled the Wimbledon crowd. Nobody else of Hopman's physique has ever displayed such a service.
