HOWICK INTERESTS.
BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY. J The annual meeting of the Howick: Beautifying Society was held on Thursday evening, the president, Mr. A. J. T. Judkins, presiding. It was reported there was a satisfactory; balance in hand, while an increase in membership was recorded for the year. Several new seats had been placed at suitable spots in the district and treeS planting on streets and reserves was part of the year's work. The donation of a seat from Miss A. Nixon was gratefully accepted. • It was decided to co-operate with tha Town Board in improving the Cockle Bay Reserve. The following officers were elected: — Patroness, Mrs. H. K. Gilm'our; vicepresidents, Bishop Cleary, Canon Mason,. Father Downie and Messrs. F. Allen, J.Crawford, W. Green, R. Burns, Dr. Ross, Mrs. Morley. Bell and Miss Nixon; committee, Mrs. Mason, Misses Warm, Jay, Mcllwraith, Rathbone, Messrs. Tovey and Litten; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Motion.
