CIVIC SQUARE LEASES.
ADDRESS BY MR. LUNDON. Negotiations connected with (lie lease of sections on the Civic Square site were dealt with at length by Mr. J. R. Lundon, who addressed a large meeting in St. Benedict's Hall last evening for two and a-half hours. Mr. W. H. Murray, a member of the City Council, presided.
Mr. Lundon referred to the transactions relating to the lease of lot 5, at the corner of Queen and Welleslev Streets, to Civic Properties, Limited, and outlined at length all negotiations from last November, when the sections were first put up for auction, until the granting of an injunction by tho Supreme Court restraining action in regard to the corner property. He criticised various actions of the City Council and expressed the opinion that a mass meeting should be held in the Town Hall to register disapproval of the present civic administration. He said ho had interviewed the Prime Minister at Hamilton last week and had received a satisfactory reply to a request for an inquiry into civic matters as a whole. There was every likelihood that the inquiry would be held. At the conclusion of tho meeting a resolution was passed expressing lack of confidence in the City Council and calling upon all members to resign.
