PUPUKE LAKESIDE AREA.
TAKAPUNA'S REVENUE LOST. REQUEST TO THE GOVERNMENT. Whatever may be the issue of the representations made to the North Shore Water Board by the recent conference of Waitomata ' municipalities, in favour of the acquisition of a strip of land on : the shores of Lake Pupuke, the Takapuna Borough Council intends to proceed with its overtures to the Government for compensation for its loss of rate revenue through the lowering of property valuations in the vicinity. At last evening's meeting of the council it was resolved, on the lecommendation of the Finance arid Legal Committee, that application should be made to t&e Minister of Health to enact legislation providing reasonable compensation, through the North Shore Water Board, for the loss of revenue suffered by the borough, and also, that, if thought fit, the committee already appointed should present a petition to Parliament on the subject.
