MOTU RIVER CROSSING.
PUNT WASHED AWAY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI, Wednesday. Advice has been received by the Opotiki County Council that the punt formerly in use over the Motu River at Maraenui, has been washed away by the recent floods. An urgent request has been made for another punt, as in the winter the river is often too high for fording on horseback: It will be some months before the new bridge is available. '
