NEWS FROM ALL PARTS.
OLYMPIC GAMES RESULTS. The annual meeting of the Auckland Listeners' League will be held in the Unity Hall on Monday, June 25. Full details concerning nominations for office will be advertised in the llehald at an early date. The Australian broadcasting stations can now be heard at excellent strength. The Brisbane station, 4QG, has lost a considerable amount of the "mushiness" which has characterised its transmission for some time past. The Dutch station, PCJJ, has announced its intention to broadcast a running description of tho events at the Olympic sports, particularly those in which Australians are participants. Communication between Australia and the French colony of New Caledonia, which, until recently, was effected by means of a sea cable, has now been superseded by wireless telegraphy.
In recognition of the work it is doing for Palmerston North and district, the Palmerston North Borough Council has decided to grant the Manawatu Radio Club, the owners of station 2ZF, a subsidy of £SO. Auckland "HAMS" will meet at dinner this evening in the Farmers' Trading Company's rooms. It is expected that 50 or so of lhe short-wave brotherhood will be present. " Such gatherings are certainly to be encouraged. A Mokau listener, has a complaint, one which many will envy him. He says: — "I can get 2BL and 2FC all day long while they are broadcasting, and generally 3LO and 3AR, as well as 4QGf but I cannot get SCL (Adelaide) at all well on the speaker until late in the afternoon." In that district reception of the Australian stations is extraordinary, the daylight strength often being far greater than that obtainable inland late at night.. Strange to say, reception of New Zealand stations is unsatisfactory.
