MANAGEMENT . COMMITTEE.
STARTING TIME DISCUSSED. APPEAL FOR INJURED PLAYER. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, Mr. G. Rhodes presiding. A letter was read from the West Coast League stating that it was intended to send a junior team to Auckland in August or September. It wa.s pointed out that the juniors of the West Coast were keen to make the trip, but the expenses wero to be heavy. Mr. C. Adamson said it was intended to assist the visitors by arranging to board out the players, and it was certain the request for a game in Auckland would receive favourable consideration. It was decided to donate £1 Is tow ard the appeal of the city schools' committee for distribution of hot milk and cocoa to school children during the winter months. The request of the junior management committee to send a team on tour this season was referred to the finance committee for a report. The lateness of starting senior matches was mentioned by the chairman, who stated that on Saturday Inst the game on No. 1 ground at Carlaw Park was ten minutes behind the appointed time. Mr. T. Gregory said a fine for each minute late should ba enforced. Mr. Adamson agreed that it was time the League took a hand in the matter and enforced a punctual start. No penalty was too severe to enforce the teams to comply with the League's demand. It was eventually decided to impress upon each of the senior teams to adhere to a punctual start, and in future club delegates will be held responsible for their teams' appearance on time. A letter was read from the Ponsonby Club appealing for assistance in the case of one of its senior members who was seriously injured in the matches for the Stack benefit fund. Mr. B. Longbottom, for the Ponsonby Club, said this player received a broken jaw and he had been laid aside for some weeks. The club had been called upon to assist financially, hut the Auckland League, or the Stack committee, should accept some responsibility. Mr. Culpan said the malfer had been discussed bv the Sta,ck committee, but it was not considered advisable to pay any. monies out- of a fund collected for a cerlain purpose. . It was eventually decided, on the suggestion of Mr. Culpan. to refer the claim back to the Stack benefit committee. . J. Drvland and L. Pyke wero reinstated to tho Leacue code. ~ Mr. F. Tanner, of tho Parnell senior (earn, was transferred to Point Chevalier. The application of G. N. Smith. Parnell. to join the Athletic seniors was deferred for one week, pending a report from the Athletic Club.
