HOWICK TOWN BOARD.
EASING DANGEROUS CORNER
The Howick Town Board met on Tuesday evening, the, chairman, Mr. ,J. Crawford, presiding.
The chairman, Mr. J. C. Litten, and the clerk were appointed to attend a conference of local bodies.
The clerk was instructed to write to the Auckland Electric-power Board drawing its attention to the general dissatisfaction in the want of sufficient lighting power in the street-lamps. A proposal by Mr. J. C. Litten, that a rebate of 5 per cent, should be allowed on all rates paid within one month oi the date on the demand-notice, was carried.
The noxious weeds inspector reported several offenders who had so far ignored notice to clear their sections. It was decided to take legal action if necessary. It was decided to round off the corner in front of the new hotel building at the junction of Uxbridge and Picton Streets, thereby eliminating a dangerous corner for traffic and making a considerable improvement in the centre of the township.
