MOTOR LICENCES.
Sir, —I am slightly amused at "Speeder's" suggestion that all ladies' licences should be cancelled. Being a mere woman with a licence one week old, I might state that I have twice already had to swerve out on main roads to let men drivers come in from side streets, and once during a lesson on a narrow strip of concrete a gentleman who, having no ditch to "nearly put me in," made a head-to-head collision or the rough road my only course. My teacher (a man) remarked: "Well, of all the hides," but told me to pull out, later remarking had he known we were to be pushed off he would have stopped dead rather. In other instances men motorists have shown courtesy which, although unnecessary, I much appreciate. I am quite capable and prepared to obey the rules of the road. LadY Hopeful.
