WAIUKU CANAL SCHEME.
[BY telegraph.—own COHRESPONDENT.) HAMILTON. Tuesday. An undertaking that an effort would be made by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce to encourage the Waiuku canal scheme was made by the president, Mr. F. H. Clapham, at a meeting last evening, following an address bv Mr. M. 11. Wynyard, a member of the Auckland Harbour Board. Mr. Wynyard said the estimated cost of the scheme was £39.000, and it, was proposed that any rating would be spread over Auckland' City and the country districts that would benefit by the project. An assurance that the canal would be self-supporting would be obtained before work was proceeded with.
