POPULATION OF FRANCE.
DECREASE IN PAST YEAR. DEATH RATE ALSO LOWER. DECLINE IN MARRIAGES. (Received May 29, 8.35 p.m.) Times Cable. LONDON. May 28. The Paris correspondent of the Times says the lower death-rate in France was compensated for by a lower birth-rate in 1927 compared with 1926. The population of the country is now 40,960,000, which is the highest since the war. Births in 1927 totalled 741,718, the lowest since 1913; deaths 676,668, compared with 713,456 in 1926; marriages, 337,864. The latter have progressively declined and were the lowest since the war.,
