FARM HORSES.

t Sir,—The letter appearing in last Monday's Herald makes statements which in some cases are doubtless well founded. Our-inspectors-is very fully occupied in and around the city and can take up country work only on specific complaints of cruelty, which are at once investigated. There is much we should like to do, but the inspection of markets, stables, wharves, rail., ays, killing works, pounds, saleyards and the various contracts in progress, leaves no time for general conntry work. Is it that the general condition of the town horses is, in a measure, due to the activities of our society ? With an increase in our membership we could do much more. M. E. Younghusband, Secretary, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
