USE OF MOTOR-CAR.
BITTER DEBATE EVOKED. SOUTH AFRICAN CONTROVERSY. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. CAPETOWN. May 25. A hitter two days' debate in the House of Assembly arose out of the AuditorGeneral surcharging the Minister of Posts and Telegraphs, Mr. W. B. Madelcy, a sum of £231 for the nse of a motor-cs.r for private purposes. This the Prime Minister, General Hertzog, subsequently condoned. Tho Leader of the Opposition, General Smuts, said he regarded tho allegation against the Auditor-General as a very gravo one. He demanded a judicial inquiry. The Prime Minister offered a committee of Parliament to inquire into the matter and this tho Opposition accepted.
