COMMENT ON EVENTS.

EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD SPORT ROTOR'S ATTRACTIVE RACE. fB? telegraph.—OWN correspondent. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. There was some exceptionally good sport at the Ambsrley meeting yesterday and it ■was a successful fixture from every point of view. Heisler was responsible for an attractive performance in winning the Brsckenfield Hurdle Handicap. He assisted to set the pace all the way and stayed on much better than usual. Repetition of this form would make him hard to beat again up to a mile and a-half. Oriflanib showed plenty of dash in the early stages *>f the race. He was going quite as well -as Heisler up to a mile and a-quarter, but after that the weight seemed to trouble bim. It was his first race over hurdles for some time. Royal Land was a pronounced favourite, but his effort was disappointing. He was not hurried in the early stages, but after looking dangerous at the home turn he failed to sustain his run. Rotor registered a very attractive performance when he won the G. B. Starky Memorial Handicap. H 6 was one of the leaders ail the way and he always looker! a winner from the time the straigut was reached. Kotor has some useful hack form to his credit this season, and he should do still better in open company, as he gives evidence of staying. Moratorium ran his best race when he finished second. He was staying on in fine style at the end. Amor was always one of the pacemakers and stuck to hia task resolutely, finishing weil in third place. Later in the day he ran another good race when second to Malmsey in the Glasnevin Hack Handicap. Battle Colours was a disappointment. He was travelling particularly well five furlongs from home. A little further on. however, he failed to respond. The Qnin Abbey gelding Waihemo made short work of the opposition in the Seadown Hack Handicap. At no stage was ho far from the front, and he hud the race in oafe keeping at the home turn. Waihemo ' should win in much better company next season. Zaragoza was responsible for a solid performance in winning the Amberley Handicap. She was well placed all the way, and after taking charge in the straight she bad to be ridden out to stall off Gold Mint, vrho came with a great run. Gold - • .Mint is racing unluckily at present. Sagit- . tarius showed his customary speed but quickly when the sAraight was .Malmsey idde<? further to her reputation attractive performance in the GlasIfiitf ; Handicap, She was several leaders at the home lamina enabled her to lard* ® «PlK*ition in the Ja ß i hundred
