SANDERS CUP CONTEST.

PROPOSED ALTERATIONS. AUCKLAND REJECTS SCHEME. The suggestions for future contests for the Sanders Memorial Cup made by Mr. J. Hislop, of Auckland, at the last Dominion conference of delegates, were discussed at a meeting of tho Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association last evening. The, proposal was to have six new boats, all to be built by ono builder and of tho same type as the present boats, and to confine the contest only to these boats. The cost would be defrayed by pul'lie subscription or by the clubs in each centre, and when completed tho boats would be balloted for and named after the province to which they were allotted. It was hoped in this way to make the contest more a trial of seamanship than at present and to eliminate disputes about measurements. Tho chairman, Mr. J. B.! Johnston, said that if the proposals were carried it would kill the class altogether. All existing boats would not be allowed to take part in the contest and no interest would lie taken in tho trials. After discussion tho following resolutions wore carried unanimously:—"That the adoption of tho suggestion would prejudice the class inasmuch as it would discourago the building of boats, the incentive of the chance of selection as a representative being absent. That it would exclude all existing boats and would thus bo unfair to those which in all respects had fully complied with tho plans and specifications. That all boats should be measured by Dominion measurers appointed by the conference and any boat which does not comply with tho plans and specifications should bo disqualified from taking part. That it is desirable u minimum weight for each boat should be adopted." „ It was decided to forward a copy of fho resolutions to the various centres interested in the Sanders Cup contest.
