NOTES FROM CANTERBURY.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] CHRISTCHURCH. Monday. Peter Bingen is going along well in his training work. He is not ready for a mile journey, but he comes to hand quickly. W. J. Mcrland's young pacer by Rey de Oro from the roan mare Belette, is a regular attendant at Addington. but he is not being asked to do any severe tasks. He promises tp become a fine pacer. He is not likely to be raced until the spring. Pageant looks well and is pacing in . his best style in his training work. He showed distinct promise when raced over two miles at a recent meeting at Wellington. Locanda Boy is doing plenty of useful -work under D. Bennett's charge at Addington. When at his best he is a very useful two-miler. J. J. Kennerley is not being hard on Writer at present. Ho has raced well this season and should furnish , into a good four-year-old. The Waimate sportsman, Mr. J. Dench. had decided not to race his two-year-old filly by Wrack from Tatsy Dillon this season. She is growing and she will be given time to mature. The annual meeting of the Trotting Conference was fixed for Wednesday. July 11, but now that the Wellington Racing Club has decided to race on that day the Trotting Conference will alter the date of its meeting to Tuesday. July 10.
