AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. DAY OF QUIET BUSINESS.

Business was again quiet on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and the number of sales recorded was smaller than usual. In debentures business was again done in Auckland Gas, 1935, 6£ per cent., at £lO3. Buyers of Government stocks showed a tendency to increase their offers, but sellers were not quoting freely. New Zealand Breweries' debentures again changed hands at 23s 6d. Quotations for bank shares showed little change and no sales were effected in this section. In insurance New Zealands were available at 425, buyers 41s 3d. In coals buyers of Taupiris advanced to 27s 3d, but holders wore firm at 27s 6d. In miscellaneous British Tobacco were to be had at 435, buyers, 41s 6d. The repeated offer of £59 10s for Colonial Sugars brought no response. Tonson Garlicks sold at the current price of 12s. In mining two sales of Ohinemuris were effected at 7s, showing no change in recent values.

The following sales took place:—Auckland Gas, 1935, 6£ per cent., £103; New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., debentures, 23s 6d; Tonson Garlick, 12s; Ohinemuri Gold and Silver, 7s (two sales).
