AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE BANKING SECTION ACTIVE. Banking was tile most active section' on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, when current rates were mainly sustained. There was fair inquiry for Government securities, in some instances at a slightly improved level, but holders did not respond freely and no business was done.

In bunks (lie rights of Australasias were done at 59s 6d, compared with 60s last week. Commercials of Australia had sale at the ruling rato of 28s Bd. New Zealands also found buyers at the current) price of 60s, and the D prof., 20s paid,, issue changed hands at 275, an advance of threepence on the most recent previous sale. Unions advanced sixpence to sell at £l4 16s 6d, more being available at that figure. In insurance New Zealands were done at 41s 6d, the recently current rate. In loan and agency the A preference issue of the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company changed hands at 16s, the price paid at the preceding sale over two months ago. Goldsbrough, Mort, which have advanced steadily recently, were done at 50s 3d, against 50s last week.

In. gas Aucklands again improved, selling at 23s 3d, compared with 23s at the end of last week. In miscellaneous £56 15s was offered for Colonial Sugars, which changed hands at £57 on Saturday, but no holders were revealed. In mining Waihis fell to sell at 12s 3d. The shares sold at up to 12s 9d last week.
