BYRD FOR ANTARCTIC.
RELIEF SHIP TO DEPART. WILKINS DECLINES AN OFFER. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. OSLO. April 25. Commander Richard Byrd's Antarctic ship Samson, 278 tons, is to leave Oslo for Bergen, Norway, to-morrow. Captain Wilkins has refused an offer from Commander Byrd to join his expedition. He has also refused to sell his aeroplane to the latter. Captain Wilkins says he does not want to divulge the plans for his Antarctic flight at present, but he expects to start in September. His object, will not be to reach the actual Pole, but to survey the unknown area in the Antarctic region.
